what can I say?

I got my "five year pin" from the non-profit I work for. It sounds like a little thing (ha!) but getting your pins really is a big deal. A lot of staff don't make it past the first couple years so 5 years is an accomplishment.

I turned 30. N took the day off work so we could tour a winery, and visit some local landmarks I'd always wanted to see but never quite gotten to. He threw me a fabulous party with friends at the end of the day. The gift I'm most excited about is a pressure cooker! I can't wait to start experimenting with it. Overall, the whole weekend was wonderful.

I paid off my car so I now own it free and clear. I like owning a car, even if it is old. I'd rather own an old car than owe on a new one any day.

also...... N & I got engaged. Yippee!!! My ring is sweet and delicate and lovely. I don't have my camera handy but I WILL post a picture soon. promise.
We are having a small ceremony for family on August 31st, and then a party for all in September or October.
Even though we're keeping it SUPER simple, there are still a lot of things to be done before then. Including moving. (that will be twice in 8 months - ouch!).

To put a really big damper on it all though, my parents also have to move in the next 36 days. They have a LOT of stuff and very little time to get it all under control. It works out well for N and I that they are downsizing just as we are setting up house but it is a very stressful time for everyone involved. very very stressful. ick.

I think there might be other things I'm missing, but those are the big things.
